Rhonda Reynolds joined the UTC Athletics Department in 2004. She is the Academic Advisor for wrestling, men’s and women’s tennis as well as the men’s and women’s cross country and track and field teams.
Her primary responsibilities include monitoring NCAA progress towards degree and eligibility, providing academic advisement on course selection, graduation and career planning, coordinating and supervising student-athlete study halls and tutoring and co-facilitating student-athlete council and NCAA CHAMPS/Lifeskills. She is a certified member of N4A, the National Association of Athletic Academic
During the 2011-12 season, three of Reynolds’ teams posted g.p.a.’s that ranked in the top-25 in the nation among their respective sports. The men’s cross country squad has had the top g.p.a. in the nation twice in the last three years while the women’s cross country team had a school record 3.85 g.p.a. in the Spring of 2014.
A Connecticut native, Reynolds graduated from the University of Connecticut, Storrs where she was a student-athlete competing in cross country and track and field for the Huskies.
After earning her B.S. in Textiles Science with a concentration in Apparel Design, Reynolds worked as both a staff and consultant apparel designer as well as a product line manager for many international apparel corporations - most notably Ralph Lauren, FILA, PUMA, and Under Armour. Her 15 years in garment design, development, production, and management took her all over the world traveling to every continent except Antarctica.
Reynolds came to Chattanooga to be near her family on Signal Mountain landing a senior design and development position with former children’s wear giant, Buster Brown. It was her love of sports and fitness that pulled her away from the apparel industry and brought her to the UTC Athletics Department.
Reynolds runs, bikes and weight trains daily. She has completed several marathons and has earned titles in East Coast fitness competitions. She is actively involved in area and national animal rescue efforts and serves as a canine foster guardian. Reynolds is currently working towards the completion of her graduate degree in Business and Public Administration at UTC.
