The University of Tennessee at Chattanooga athletics department was well represented in the Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure today.  The Mocs were active participants in the event and helped with the administration of the race.

Headquartered at the McKenzie Arena, this was the 10th annual Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure in Chattanooga.  Over 8,000 participants, spectators and volunteers visited the UTC campus for today's race.

Four of the Mocs teams, including men's basketball, women's basketball, softball and wrestling, participated in the 5K run.  Coincidentally, all four of those squads won SoCon Championships last season.

Fresh off their inspiring 38-9 win over No. 17 Wofford last night, the football team was out on the course working as race volunteers.  The Mocs were cheering on the runners as they passed by on Amnicola Highway and received as much applause for their win last night as they gave to the race participants.

The cross country and track and field squads were also heavily involved with the administration and coordination of the event.  The Mocs runners have played a large role in the production of the race each year.

About Susan G. Komen - www.komen.org
About Us
Susan G. Komen fought breast cancer with her heart, body and soul. Throughout her diagnosis, treatments, and endless days in the hospital, she spent her time thinking of ways to make life better for other women battling breast cancer instead of worrying about her own situation. That concern for others continued even as Susan neared the end of her fight. Moved by Susan's compassion for others and committed to making a difference, Nancy G. Brinker promised her sister that she would do everything in her power to end breast cancer forever.

That promise is now Susan G. Komen for the Cure®, the global leader of the breast cancer movement, having invested more than $1 billion since inception in 1982. As the world's largest grassroots network of breast cancer survivors and activists, we're working together to save lives, empower people, ensure quality care for all and energize science to find the cures. Thanks to events like the Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure®, and generous contributions from our partners, sponsors and fellow supporters, we have become the largest source of nonprofit funds dedicated to the fight against breast cancer in the world.
