The University of Tennessee at Chattanooga once again showed
its strong commitment to its student-athletes, teams and the local community
with the completion of the $3.2 million Brenda Lawson Student-Athlete Success
Center in January 2009.
The Lawson Center, located on Vine Street just south of the Boling
Apartments on campus, consists of the Chattem Basketball Practice Facility for
both men’s and women’s basketball and the Wolford Family Strength and
Conditioning Facility which is utilized by all UTC student-athletes.
This facility is
one of the finest in the country and is a source of pride for the entire
athletics department. Its central
location on campus makes it a very convenient location for student-athlete to
meet and workout any time of day.
The uniqueness of the facility also makes it a very versatile workplace
that benefits the entire athletics program at UTC.
The Chattem Basketball Practice Facility is housed within
the Lawson Center and provides both the men’s and women’s basketball programs
with a consistent practice presence throughout the year. The Chattem Facility contains a full
practice court that is an exact design of the Mocs' main court in McKenzie
Arena. Also included in the practice facility are four additional
practice goals, making it an ideal practice space.
The Wolford Family Strength and Conditioning Center is
utilized by all student-athletes at UTC.
It houses state-of-the-art strength and conditioning equipment with
plenty of workout space. Another
unique feature of the Wolford Center are the three 40-yard sprint lanes. This area is also used for training and
warm ups in an indoor setting.
The Lawson Center is the cornerstone of the Mocs’ claim of
having some of the best athletic facilities in the nation.
