DANIEL ISLAND, S.C. --- The Chattanooga Mocs women's golf team is tied for sixth after 18 holes of the Southern Conference Championship at Moss Creek Golf Club. UTC shot 317 and is tied with Samford.

Jordan Britt (Chattanooga, Tenn.) and Maria Juliana Loza (Bucaramanga, Colombia) led the Mocs each carding five-over par 77's. The duo is tied for seventh.

UTC got off to a rough start making the turn at 19-over par. Britt went on a ruin with a birdie on nine. Her three birdies over the next four holes spurred a four-under par run as the team headed into 16 at plus 15.

Mette Kryger (Nivaa, Denmark) joined Britt in the birdie blitz. She scored all three of her birdies on 11, 13 and 14. But the final three holes were the Mocs undoing. They played the finishing holes at 14-over on the four counting cards to end up at 317.

Marion Duvernay (Publier, France) shot eight-over par 80. She is tied for 23rd. Kryger wound up with an 83, while Sophie Weilguni (Langenlois, Austria) carded an 86.

UNCG leads at 306. Elon is four shots back in second with a 310, while Furman is five off the pace at 311. Begona Sarabia (UNCG), Martyna Mierzwa (Elon) and Alexa Rancourt (Furman) are tied for the individual lead at plus two (74).

Chattanooga returns to the course for round two of three in the morning.  Weilguni leads off No. 1 at 8:50 a.m., playing with Wofford. She is followed by Kryger (9:00), Duvernay (9:10), Loza (9:20) and Britt (9:30). Live scoring of the round can be found on the GoMocs.com women's golf schedule page.
