Tyler Brown moved into a permanent role within the athletic communications office July 2012 after several years as a student worker. He serves as Athletics Communications Assistant with direct sport responsibilities for volleyball and softball.
He assisted in gameday operations with football, men's and women's basketball and tennis during his first three years before joining staff full-time as a student assistant.
His biggest contribution has been as the "Voice of the Lady Mocs" for softball. Tyler has broadcast home and away events for UTC softball on GoMocs.com over the past five seasons.
Brown has been very active with UTC's student newspaper, The Echo. He began as a sports writer before taking over as Sports Editor as a sophomore. He was the publication's Editor as a junior.
Tyler spent the 2013 and 2014 baseball seasons as an employee of the Los Angeles Dodgers. He oversaw the operation of TrackMan, a radar scouting system, and its statistical analysis for the Chattanooga Lookouts, the Class AA affiliate of the Dodgers.
During the summer of 2012, he served as a contributing writer for LADugout, a Los Angeles Dodgers blog. His work also focused on the Lookouts.
Tyler is 2014 graduate of UTC and a native of Coalmont, Tenn. He has done a wealth of broadcasting both on television and radio for his alma mater, Grundy County High School, beginning the Yellow Jacket Network. He has also written for the Grundy County Herald during both his high school and college years.
