Former Chattanooga women's basketball player Jenaya Wade-Fray (Madison, Ala - St. George's, Bermuda) tried out for and was selected to represent Great Britain as a member of the women's basketball team at the 2012 London Olympics.
She sent a few words about her experience so far.
"It's a great honor and amazing feeling to be a part of the Olympic team and to be in the Olympic village with all these great fellow athletes.
"I think it's still pretty unreal to me being here, never really imagined of playing in the Olympics and I am just so thankful that I was given the opportunity to try out and eventually make the team. I've seen a few "famous" athletes and I am really loving every minute of this and looking forward to the rest of the time here.
"Our first game is tomorrow (July 28) against Australia and we must bring out "A" game if we expect to win. We are in a tough group, but we have a good chance of making it to the next round if we play like we are capable of playing. We have already surprised a few teams this summer and we hope to continue doing so throughout the Olympics."
Great Britain is competing in Group B in the preliminary round. That group includes teams from Australia, Brazil, Canada, France and Russia. Group A includes Angola, China, Croatia, Czech Republic, Turkey and the United States.
