The University of Tennessee at Chattanooga Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) will host its inaugural MOCS 101 on campus on Wednesday, Sept. 5. This event will be held from 11:00 a.m. (E.D.T.) to 1:00 p.m. at Heritage Plaza in the heart of UTC.
"Our SAAC leadership has really been aggressive in trying to come up with ways to get more involved with campus," stated Interim Director of Athletics Laura Herron. "I think they have come up with a very unique and innovative way to accomplish their goal. There is a lot of excitement around the program about it and it will be a fun event for everyone."
Students, faculty and staff at UTC are encouraged to come out and learn more about the sports involved with Chattanooga Athletics. An idea created and implemented by the SAAC leadership, MOCS 101 is designed to give the campus community a chance to meet the Mocs and test their skills in many different sports.
There will be a variety of give-a-ways, including posters, schedule cards and t-shirts. There will also be some raffle items available to participants, including a chance to sit in the Athletics Director's box at a home football game, sit on the team bench during a men's or women's basketball game and a chance to win an autographed hat from 2012 US Amateur Champion Steven Fox.
The SAAC is made up of student-athletes assembled to provide insight on their experiences to the UTC campus and athletics administration. The SAAC also offers input on the rules, regulations and policies that affect student-athletes' lives on the campus of UTC. Each Mocs team is represented on the SAAC and this year's leadership is made up of Irvin Hernandez (Football), Paula Passmore (Volleyball) and Jordan Britt (women's golf).
