The University of Tennessee at Chattanooga women's tennis team captured five singles draws on the final day of the Duckworth Fall Classic in Clemson, S.C., today. All five Lady Mocs competing in championship matches won today, giving UTC six titles on the weekend.
Junior Alexa Flynn (Memphis, Tenn.) won the highest draw for Chattanooga, competing in the No. 5 Silver Flight. She battled back for a three-set win over Wofford's Guinn Garcia (4-6, 6-1, 6-1).
Freshman Kelsey Coots (Huntsville, Ala.) had a dominating performance in the finals of the Red Flight 8. She only dropped one game, defeating USC Upstate's Allison Beeler (6-1, 6-0).
Sophomore Claire Mulyadi (Semarang, Indonesia) had a three-set win of her own in the No. 9 Green Draw. She posted a (6-2, 3-6, 6-4) victory against Upstate's Talia Rojas.
UTC's third win came in the No. 11 Yellow Flight when freshman Kayla Jones (Memphis, Tenn.) topped Emory's Allie Damico (6-1, 6-3). Freshman Jovana Pecovski (Apitan, Serbia) won the fifth title for UTC with a (1-6, 6-2, 6-2) win over Emory's Danielle Truitt in the No. 12 Garnet Flight.
Senior Jenna Nurik (Roswell, Ga.) bounced back from an early loss to win the backdraw in the No. 1 Orange bracket. She beat Armstrong Atlantic's Marlen Hacke (7-6 (3), 6-7 (1), 1-0 (8)) in a tough three-setter.
Sophomore Kaylene Chadwell (Franklin, Tenn.) placed third in the No. 3 White Flight while freshman Katie Polk (Woodstock, Ga.) won the backdraw in the No. 7 Blue Flight. Chadwell won by default and Polk posted a (6-2, 7-6, 1-0 (3)) three-set win over Emory's Madison Gordon.
Freshman Alison Storie (Johnson City, Tenn.) wrapped up play for the Lady Mocs, winning the backdraw in the No. 10 Black Flight. She beat Troy's Samya El Hsissen (6-4, 6-2) in the consolation finals today.
