CHATTANOOGA, Tenn.-The University of Tennessee at Chattanooga Mocs volleyball team (12-17, 6-8 SoCon) won its second consecutive five-set match (25-17, 25-21, 19-25, 23-25, 16-14) Saturday night over the Elon Phoenix (14-15, 7-7 SoCon) at Maclellan Gym.

The senior night win was headed by senior Heather Parman(Ooltewah, Tenn.) who was unstoppable on offense with 22 kills and a .321 hitting percentage to  lead Chattanooga in each category. Freshman Briana Reid (Houston, Texas) and junior Bridget Camacho (Cumming, Ga.) each recorded her second double-double in as many nights, Reid coming away with 14 kills and 28 digs while Camacho tallied 53 assists and 13 digs.

Senior Paula Passmore paced UTC on defense with 35 digs, her sixth 30-plus dig performance of the year, while four other Mocs recorded double-digit digs. Senior Christina Teter (Signal Mountain, Tenn.) made it hard on Elon hitters by blocking seven attacks. Teter totaled two solo blocks and five assisted.

Unlike Friday's match, Chattanooga was the team to jump out to a quick 2-0 set lead. The largest victory for either team came in the first game as UTC rolled to a 25-17 win. Giving up the lead only twice, UTC hit a match-best .256 against the Phoenix.

Elon pulled closer in the second frame but fell short by four points, losing 25-21. Despite Chattanooga hitting just .256, the Phoenix was held to a miniscule .024 hitting percentage in the second. Fans saw the score tied six times in the set, but Chattanooga pulled out the win to extend the lead going into the intermission.

Much like Friday, the team being shut out at the intermission made a two-set comeback to push the match to a fifth set, but this time it was Elon applying pressure to the Mocs. The Phoenix took the third set 25-19 as the Mocs were held to a .000 hitting percentage in the frame.

With a much closer fourth stanza, seeing 15 tied scores and five lead changes, Elon still found a way to prevail over Chattanooga. UTC fell two points shy of Elon in the fourth, falling 25-23, as Maclellan Gym was about to host its second five-set match of the weekend.

The Mocs fell in a 1-0 hole early and played catch-up for most of the entire deciding set. It wasn't until the score was tied 12-12 before UTC climbed over the hump. Chattanooga took a 13-12 lead, but Elon answered back and tied the score again. Two points later and the score was tied 14-14. The Mocs finished off the Phoenix with back-to-back kills from Reid and Parman to claim the 3-2 win.

"I am just really proud of our kids," Head Coach Travis Filar said. "Last night was a defining moment for how far Chattanooga volleyball has come, and I knew we had to come out and win again today so it would really concrete that moment. For us to go down by four in the fifth set and come back to win is big. I am very proud of this team and these seniors. This program is headed in the right direction because of Teter, Passmore, Parman and Meagan Ernd (Munster, Ind.)."

The Mocs wrap up the regular season next weekend in search of their first Southern Conference Tournament trip since 2008. UTC travels to Cullowhee, N.C., Friday to take on the Western Carolina Catamounts at 6 .m. and will finish up the road trip in Boone, N.C., with a 7 p.m. matchup with Appalachian State set for Saturday night.
