CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. --- The University of Tennessee at Chattanooga men's and women's cross country teams will hit the road to head to Tallahassee, Fla., for the 2012 NCAA South Region meet hosted by Florida State.

The Mocs placed second in the Southern Conference Championships at the end of October and will look to improve upon their 12th place region ranking. Seniors Nathan Wanuch (Mississauga, Ontario) and Lucas Cotter (Collierville, Tenn.) earned all-conference honors while rookie Trevor Janssen (Jordan Station, Ontario) was named the league's Freshman of the Year.

Wanuch took third in the men's 8K race while Cotter was 12th to make it to the league's all-conference second team. Janssen, who has continued to climb higher in the team standings throughout the season, was the first freshman across the line and 18th overall.

Sophomores Drew Austell (Memphis, Tenn.) and John Gilpin (Nashville, Tenn.) along with freshman Paul Stuart (Brentwood, Tenn.) will run for the Mocs Friday while senior Mark Cole (McKenzie, Tenn.) will make his return to the course after missing the season due to injury.

The women's team, led by all-conference performer sophomore Amanda Sumner (Bristol, Conn.), who finished sixth overall in her first league competition. She was followed by newcomer Teghan Henderson (Pickering, Ontario) who earned a spot on the SoCon's all-freshman team as the third rookie across the finish line.

Sophomore Keeley Stewart (Winchester, Tenn.) is looking to rebound after stumbling and falling at the SoCon championships where she crawled across the line to help Chattanooga to a seventh place finish. Seniors Mary Cumbee (Brentwood, Tenn.) and Kathryn Stuart (Brentwood, Tenn.) will look to make a mark in their final region competition. The pair will complete their degrees and graduate this December after just three-and-a-half years. Freshman Helenka Kis (Columbia, Tenn.) and junior Morgan Buchanan (Johnson City, Tenn.) will round out the line up for Chattanooga.

The women's 6-kilometer race is set to begin at 8:30 a.m. EST with the men's 10K race set to start at 9:15 a.m. Results will be available at following the race.
