Two University of Tennessee at Chattanooga football student-athletes were recently named to the 2012 College Sports Madness FCS Football All-American Team. Junior linebacker Wes Dothard and sophomore tight end Faysal Shafaat both earned third team recognition from the online publication.
This is the second year in a row that Dothard (Carrollton, Ga.) has earned All-American honors. He was a First Team Sports Network/Fathead.com All-American pick in 2011. He led the Mocs in tackles in 2012, logging 94 overall. He also had six tackles-for-loss, an interception and two forced fumbles while leading one of the top defenses in the FCS.
Shafaat (Orlando, Fla.) led all tight-ends in the Southern Conference with 37 catches. He totaled 295 receiving yards and tied for the team lead with five touchdowns. Shafaat is the first tight end at UTC to earn All-American honors.
