OPENING TIPS
- This weekend marks the final games of four straight on the road. The squad played just three road games to date (Kansas, Kennesaw State & LSU) prior to this road swing. Currently 1-1 during this stretch.

- UTC has won four of its last five. Last time that happened was six of seven from Dec. 21-Jan. 12 last year.

- The Mocs are 4-6 all-time in the Low Country swing.

- Chattanooga's 71st meeting with Citadel holding a 54-16 advantage (50-13 regular season, 1-0 tournament). The Mocs are 8-2 over the last 10 games. Check out page 3 for more series notes.

- UTC leads the SoCon in rebound margin (+5.8), rebounds per game (38.7) and offensive rebound percentage (.370) while ranking second in defensive rebound percentage (.725).

- The Mocs have out-boarded opponents by 10 or more seven times thus far with a high of 30 against Reinhardt. The plus-21 at Kennesaw State is the top margin against a DI opponent. The squad was +13 on the boards (30-17) at Samford last Saturday. The last time the Mocs had eight or more +10 nights on the glass was 11 in 2008-09. The record is 17 set by Shulman's first team in 2004-05.

- The 17 rebounds by the Bulldogs are the fewest by a Chattanooga opponent since 15 by Western Carolina on January 24, 2004.

- The Mocs have been good INSIDE the three-point line over the last five contests shooting 57.1 percent (112-196) from inside the arc.

- Chattanooga is ninth in the league in FT percentage (64.7%). In the first 36 minutes, it struggles at 59.4 percent (167-281). In the final four minutes of the game is where the squad excels shooting 82.9 percent (68-82). Z. Mason leads the way at 90 percent (18-20) followed by Ronrico White at 88.5 percent (23-26).

- Freshman Gee McGhee has played 23 or more minutes in every game with a high of 33 (at Georgia Tech). He is the only student-athlete on the squad to do so averaging a team-best 28.5 minutes per contest. White is second at 25.9 minutes per game. McGhee is averaging 10.3 points, 2.9 rebounds, 2.3 assists and a team-high 1.3 steals per contest.

- White has 33 assists over the last eight games (4.1 apg). He had 14 in the first seven (2.0). His six Saturday at Samford is a career high.

- McGhee is third in the SoCon in FT attempts with 74, tops among guards. White is tied for fifth with 70.

- The Mocs have taken more FTs (363) than any other team in the league ranking 20th nationally.

SOCON HISTORY
- UTC is 353-204 in SoCon regular season games - 216-62 at home, 137-142 on the road.
- Chattanooga has been the dominant program since joining the SoCon in 1977-78 after winning the 1977 NCAA Division II title.
- UTC has won 28 championships in 35 seasons in the league including 10 regular-season (prior to division play starting in 1994-95), eight division and 10 tournament. Davidson is second during that span with 19, 11 of which are of the division variety. 
- The Mocs 20 regular-season/tourney titles are far and away the most through those 35 campaigns followed  by East Tennessee State (now in Atlantic Sun) with nine (3 reg season/6 tourney) and Davidson (1 reg season/7 tourney) with eight.
- Chattanooga has won a title of some kind in 19 of its 35 years in the SoCon.

SCOUTING THE BULLDOGS
- The Citadel is 3-9, 0-2 in SoCon South. The Bulldogs are 3-3 in McAlister Fieldhouse.
- Chuck Driesell is 19-55 in his third year, 1-1 vs. UTC.
- Mike Groselle paces the Bulldogs averaging 14.3 points and 7.3 rebounds per game.
- The Citadel averages 63.2 points per game shooting 43.3 percent from the field, 33.0 percent from three-point range and 72.7 percent of free throws. It holds -3.0 rebound and -3.8 turnover margins.
- Opponents score 76.0 points per contest shooting 47.7 percent from the floor, 39.4 percent beyond the arc and 72.7 percent from the charity stripe.
- One common opponent: Georgia Tech. The Mocs lost 74-58 to open 2013, while the Bulldogs fell 73-41 in December. Both games were played in Atlanta.

MURRAY ARNOLD
The Chattanooga Mocs lost a legend on Nov. 14, 2012 as former Head Coach Murray Arnold passed away in Florida. He laid the DI championship foundation coaching for six years, 1980-85, with a 135-46 record. He coached collegiately at four institutions (Birmingham Southern, Western Kentucky and Stetson) amassing a 420-229 mark in 22 seasons. The Mocs captured four SoCon Championships in six UTC campaigns advancing to three NCAA Tournaments and two NITs reaching the Elite 8 (NIT) in 1985 and narrowly missing the NCAA Sweet 16 in 1982.
