The Mocs match at UAB has been canceled and will not likely be made up later in the season.  UTC's next match is Sunday, Feb. 24, at North Carolina.

The University of Tennessee at Chattanooga men's tennis has postponed its match with Lee University scheduled for Saturday, Feb. 16.  This was a planned double-header with the women's teams, but the threat of inclement weather has pushed the contests to later in the season.  A make-up date will be announced on GoMocs.com once it is determined.

The Mocs will still try to continue its hot start to the 2013 spring season with a visit to UAB on Sunday, Feb. 17.  Chattanooga is 5-2 on the year and faces the Blazers at 10:30 a.m. (C.S.T.) at the George Ward Park Tennis Courts in Birmingham, Ala.

UTC lost a tight 4-3 bout with Austin Peay in Chattanooga before traveling to Murray State for a 6-1 win last weekend. The Mocs other loss was a 5-2 setback in the season opener to No. 63 Georgia State on Jan. 20. Chattanooga also has wins over regional rivals Tennessee Tech, Belmont, Jacksonville State and North Alabama.

The Blazers are 2-6 overall and will face cross-town rival Samford on Friday before hosting the Mocs. UAB has wins over Florida A&M (4-2) and Florida Gulf Coast (5-2) and losses to Florida State (0-7), Arkansas (3-4), Auburn (1-6), Alabama (2-5), MTSU (1-6) and Yale (3-4). UAB won the last meeting in the series 5-1 on Feb. 27, 2009, in Birmingham.

Senior Manuel Barroetavena (Buenos Aires, Argentina) is the reigning Southern Conference Men's Tennis Player of the Week. He is currently 7-0 in spring action and has seen time in each of the top three singles slots. He also has a 4-1 record in doubles, teaming with fellow senior Jackson Tresnan (Apopka, Fla.).

Tresnan (Apopka, Fla.) is also undefeated in spring singles at 6-0. He has played the 4-6 spots in dual matches, and is 4-0 at No. 6. Freshman Luke Saunders (Halifax, Nova Scotia) is 3-0 in singles and is back with the team after competing in the Canadian Curling Junior National Championships.

Head coach Carlos Garcia is in his 12th season at UTC, posting a 123-139 overall record. UTC has increased its win total in each of the last three seasons. The 14-9 mark in 2012 was the best record for the program since 2007.

The Mocs also set a program record with a 3.46 team grade-point-average in the fall. All nine members of the team made the Athletics Director's Honor Roll with a 3.0+ semester g.p.a., while seven made the Dean's List.
