MIAMI, Fla. – Chattanooga junior Melissa Green (Boca Raton, Fla.) was named to the Florida International Invitational All-Tournament Team Sunday afternoon despite a 3-0 loss to South Dakota State.

The defensive specialist recorded a team-high 21 digs in the final match of the weekend. Green recorded one point and was credited with five assists against the Jackrabbits.

The Mocs fell 25-17 in the first set of the match, representing the largest deficit Chattanooga fell to on the final day of the tournament. UTC recorded 11 kills in the frame but improved on its total with 12 kills in the second set. The Mocs lost in the second with a much closer score of 25-21.

Chattanooga freshman Allie Davenport (Tyrone, Ga.) led UTC with 13 kills in the match, including two in the second set. Sophomore Briana Reid (Houston, Texas) finished second on the day with 10 kills along with four kills in the second set of the match.

The Mocs dropped the third and final frame of the match 25-20 despite a fury of points to mount a near-comeback. UTC put up 12 of the last 20 points scored in the frame, but a 17-8 hole at the start of the rally ended the Mocs’ run in the FIU Invitational with three losses.

Davenport ended the day with 13.0 points while Reid ended with 12.0. Reid along with sophomore Lauren Gainer (Boca Raton, Fla.) and junior Kasey Talley (Boiling Springs, S.C.) each collected 2 blocks. Freshman Anne Bachmann (Lincoln, Neb.) steered the offense with 25 assists.

The Mocs return to action Tuesday night at Maclellan Gym as the Scenic City hosts UAB at 7 p.m. Live stats and live video feeds are available via MocsVision.
