Post-Game Quotes at UNC-Greensboro
Greensboro, N.C. – Jan. 2 – Greensboro ColiseumÂ
Matt McCall, Head Coach
Opening statement after 73-68 loss.
"We had to be a little smarter in a one-point game, but even then we still had chances. We had a lot of chances and opportunities during the game, but it came down to not getting stops and plays when we needed it. I thought their will was greater than our will tonight to win the game and they made us pay for it."
On what the difference was.
"We have to get some of that stuff corrected. I felt like it was a lot of layups, we didn't shoot well from the field. Between some of our starters, we went for a combined 3-for-21, so it's hard to win games like that. We have to get better."
On offense around the rim and playing on the road.
"I thought we went down the lane and just couldn't finish. It's hard to win on the road when you aren't finishing around the rim. You have to be at your best to beat a good team on the road and UNCG is just that."
On what needs to improve.
"We needed a better defensive focus in this kind of game, so I'm a little disappointed in that area. There's not much time to dwell on this loss so we have to get better and move on."
Justin Tuoyo, Sr.-F
On letting first half lead get away.
"We just got complacent. They made us pay for it in the second half. We just can't get complacent with a lead, and it came back to kill us tonight."
On improving from the free throw line.
"I've been working on it over Christmas break. We all have been, and it's something we need to get better at moving on."
On playing around the rim.
"We were rattling around the rim all game. It's where we want to be we just need to start finishing at the rim. They are a real tough team and we knew that, very well respected."
