Camper Inks Alabama Champ Holmes to NLI

University of Tennessee at Chattanooga head women's tennis coach Chad Camper announced the signing of Lilly Holmes to a National Letter of Intent this week.  Holmes is a three-time Alabama 6A Individual State Champion from Florence High School in Florence, Ala.

She is a four-star prospect according to Tennisrecruiting.net.  That same service lists her as the No. 2 prospect in Alabama and No. 44 in the Southeast.

"We are excited to add Lilly to our program," stated Camper. "Not only is she going to be a great player here at UTC, but she is also an excellent student and fun lady. The first time I watched her play I knew I needed to get this girl on our team. She has a big game and a great work ethic."

Holmes has had an outstanding prep career for the Falcons and head coach Donna Garner.  She was an undefeated state champion both her freshman and sophomore seasons, earning Player of the Year honors both times.  She won another state title as a junior and was named the overall athlete of the year at FHS.

Holmes is also a two-time member of the Alabama Southern Junior Cup team.  She won a doubles state trophy as a sophomore with Ruth Roberts and was runner up in the state singles as far back as the seventh grade.

Daughter of Michele and Don Holmes, she has an older brother, Brodie, who played tennis at Alabama-Huntsville for four years.  Academically, she is undecided on a major, but is a member of both the French and Math Honor Societies at Florence High School.
