A total of 19 NFL teams were represented at the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga football team's annual Pro Day at Finley Stadium on Thursday. Nine former Mocs joined featured All-American performers
Keionta Davis and
Corey Levin in the usual run of drills and exercises.
Davis and Levin both participated at the NFL Combine last month, and both are potential draft pics. The rest of the group tried to grab the attention of the scouts through strong performances.
Davis did not compete in many of the drills at the Combine, so his numbers today were important. Among his highlights were a 4.67 in the 40, which would have tied for eighth among the defensive linemen at the combine. He also had a 37-inch vertical and 30 reps on the 225-pound bench press, that would have been third and fourth at the Combine, respectively.
Since Levin posted good numbers at the Combine, he did not run again. However, he did participate in many offensive line drills for the scouts.
One of the biggest attention-grabbers of the day was wide receiver
C.J. Board. He ran a 4.40 40-yard dash, a time that would have tied for third among the receivers at this year's combine. He also posted a 39-inch vertical, which would have been fourth at the combine.
Board wasn't done there. His 10.64 in the long shuttle would be the fastest by anyone at the combine, while his 6.62 in the three-cone (2
nd) and 4.05 in the short shuttle (5
th) were also top-five times among the receivers.
Derrick Craine had top-10 numbers among running backs with an 11.39 in the long shuttle (3
rd), 4.22 on the short shuttle (5
th), 7.03 in the three-cone (T6th) and 20 reps on the bench press (T9th).
Nakevion Leslie's 11.20 in the long shuttle would have tied for first among the linebackers at the combine. He also had strong numbers in the 40 (4.58 – 3
rd at the combine) and the vertical (35 inches – 5
th at the combine).
