Postgame Quotes

Lamont Paris, Head Coach
On the play of Wofford's Fletcher Magee & turnovers.
"You have to counteract that by playing smart and not turning the ball over. That wasn't what beat us. He's going to make some baskets. In the second half, we turned the ball over too many times, and you can't do that. We were good on the offensive end. Our quality of shot was very high. You can't take nine possessions and forfeit those in the second half. You give up too many possesions."

On returning players from injury & end of first half.
"We still have a couple guys in high minutes. Makale [Foreman] did such a good job on Magee, so I didn't want to switch that up. It was nice that we had options down the bench again. If guys found themselves in foul trouble, then you could get them out. That was helpful. I thought the end of the first half we didn't finish that well. We should have went in up 10 at worst. It's a big-time momentum switch."

On lead changes and runs during the course of the game.
"If we're up 20 and they cut it down to tie it, that'll have an impact on me. It's a game of runs. As a player or a coach, I always saw it as a game of runs. I don't get phased. I don't want our guys to get phased during those times. Obviously it's tough because that run just happened. It'll effect what you do on the next possession. We had a chance, at the time, to get a big three that would have put it us up from six points to nine. It just didn't go in and it changed everything. If that goes in it changes their philosophy. If you make that shot, that changes your mind right that second. So many things we could have changed, but it was a good look."

On defensive efforts.
"We did a good job. A couple of miscommunications that led to some things. It was chess match, we did one thing and they counteracted it. We countered their counter on the next possession. The next couple possessions, we didn't match them. You can't do that multiple times when you draw it up. I try to be a teacher first because if they don't understand it, then it doesn't matter. It was a good game. It was probably entertaining to watch. We played good enough to win. Unfortunately, it means nothing."

James Lewis, Fr.-F
On returning to the lineup after injury.
"It feels great to be back. It took a little longer than expected in my mind, but the training staff kept me in rehab, and thankfully I'm back this soon. It's frustrating, but I kept cheering on my teammates during that time I was out."

On shaking off the rust.
"I think I was a little rusty. After a little bit I started to get the feel for it again. I just tried to play hard with a strong mindset and take it to them."

On being close without winning games.
"It's real frustrating, but we'll bounce back from it. Things are starting to click and we just want to win games now."

Makinde London, R-Jr.-F
On the play of Fletcher Magee.
"You have to tip your hat. He didn't stop. Makale did a great job on him defensively, he was on him for the most part during the game. We did our best in trying to contain him. He just did his thing. You have to tip your hat."

On crucial mistakes.
"The turnovers have to go. I just have to keep things simple and stop getting ahead of myself. When I cut back on those turnover numbers, it gives our team a better chance to be successful. I'm just really happy to be back with my guys. It feels good to be back out there."

On continuing to improve.
"We're growing. There's no excuses. I have full faith in all my guys. We have to take control of the ball in that situation. We have to continue to grow. In the long run, these moments will help us down the road when we need the weather the storm."
