MELBOURNE, Fla.---Megan Woods shot a career-low 69 to start today's 36 holes at the Moon Golf Invite at Duran Golf Club. Monica San Juan turned hers in in the afternoon leading the Chattanooga Mocs women's golf team into the upper half of a loaded field.

San Juan's 67 featured a spotless card of five birdies and 13 pars. It ties for the second-best round in school history, one of five resting one behind Ladies European Tour player Christine Wolf's closing 66 winning the 2011 JMU Eagle Landing Invitational.

San Juan is tied for second with three others, one shot off the pace of Memphis' Madison Thomas at 4-under par. She opened play with a 74 before closing with the 67. Woods is in eighth, four back at E.

Chattanooga is sixth overall at 591. The ladies were in seventh after beginning with 299, but answered with 4-over 292 in the afternoon tying for the second-best 18. It places them within five of third-place Old Dominion, four from Memphis in fourth and a mere three behind Virginia Tech.

The Mocs are one of 11 top 100 programs in the 13-team field. They're up three over No. 26 Louisville and Maryland at 594, while No. 36 Kennesaw State is ninth at 600.

The morning 299 came from Woods (69), San Juan (74), Cristina Perez (77) and Holly Morgan (79). Coming back with 4 over was San Juan supported by 75s from Woods, Perez and Maddy McDanel.

Furman has the lead at 575 followed closely by Augusta with 580. Old Dominion (586), Memphis (587), Virginia Tech (588) and Chattanooga round out the top six.
