ABOUT CHATTANOOGA BASKETBALL
Â
CHATTANOOGA---The regular season is swiftly coming to a close for the Chattanooga Mocs. A mere two regular season games remain and they're on the road.
Â
It starts Friday night at UNCG and ends Sunday afternoon at VMI. Both games broadcast on ESPN3 and are rematches of tight finishes in McKenzie Arena earlier this season. The
Keydets escaped Gig City with a one-point victory on a missed drive at the buzzer for the Mocs two nights before a
double overtime thriller over the Spartans.
Â
Close games are modus operandi for this team. Despite all the injuries and missed games, they always seem to be in the game to the very end. It's reached kind of a ridiculous level.
- 15 contests (10 SoCon) within a two-possession game with 1:00-2:00 to play (5-10).
- Within three points in the final minute of regulation 12 times (4-8), seven times in league play.
- The final possession has decided 10 games with four wins, all coming via defensive stops including the 2OT win in the first meeting with UNCG.
Â
The four overtime games are a lot considering the minutes accumulated across the roster. That's the most since 2014-15 and just two off the school record of six in 1988-89.
Â
Just two Mocs have played in all 29 games this season in
Makale Foreman and
David Jean-Baptiste. Foreman slid over to the point guard role filling in admirably for injured sophomore
Rodney Chatman with 18 points, three rebounds and three assists. Chatman is listed as day-to-day with a lower-leg injury.

3 NOTES TO KNOW
- Last time there were two OT meetings with the same opponent? 1998-99 season losing to App State at home and in SoCon Tournament (Greensboro). In the regular season? 1988-89 vs. ETSU, the only SoCon regular season series with two OT matchups. Won 86-82 in Johnson City on Jan. 9 and then again at home, 74-73, on Feb. 4. The Bucs got the last laugh with a 76-73 victory in the SoCon Semis in Asheville.
- Twenty 20-point efforts this season: Makinde London (7), Nat Dixon (6), Rodney Chatman (5) and Makale Foreman (2). Last Moc to tally eight or more 20-point games in a season? Casey Jones '16 with eight in 2014-15.
- KenPom.com listed the Mocs win probability at 0.4% down seven with 35 seconds to play in the first OT in the first meeting with the Spartans.
