Soccer Adds Six to 2018 Roster

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. --- The University of Tennessee at Chattanooga head coach Gavin McKinney announced the addition of six to the 2018 women's soccer roster on National Signing Day.
 
"We feel our 2018 class is a very dynamic group," McKinney said. The balance they will bring to the squad is fantastic. Each signee is a proven winner at every level in which she has competed. This shows they each have a drive for success.
 
"Our current squad has established a culture of hard work and team unity, and we believe our 2018 class will fit in seamlessly. As a staff, we could not be more excited to see what the future holds for our program. We are on the rise in every regard!"
 
The Mocs received National Letters of Intent from Adryan Darnell, Ashton Shields, Shelby Hash and Peyton Moore, all of Tennessee. Twin sisters Samantha and Maggie Shaw are from South Carolina.
 
Adryan Darnell
Germantown, Tenn. | Houston High School | Lobos Rush Soccer Club
 
"Adryan was an intricate member of the No. 1 rated high school program in the country this past fall at Houston High School. She also won a state title at the club level and has had success within the Olympic Development Program. I had the pleasure of coaching Adryan within ODP so I know what she is capable of. She is a top notch attacking center mid who finds pockets and maintains possession at a very high rate. She seems to have a great hunger for the game and we love that about her. We are excited to have Adryan join us in Chattanooga."

Adryan helped lead the Mustangs to back-to-back state titles in 2016 and 2017, a state runner-up finish in 2014 and the quarterfinal round in 2015. Houston won four Region 8-AAA and District 15-AAA titles and posted a four-year record of 85 wins, two losses and four ties for a .956 winning percentage. In 2017, Adryan captained the Mustangs who were the top-ranked team in the USA Today Super 25.
 
In 2017, she was named to the United Soccer Coaches All-South Regional Team, the THSSCA Senior All-Star Team and the Esmark High School All-American Team. She was a two-time Commercial Appeal All-Metro First Team and a two-time THSSCA All-State Team selection.
 
As a member of the 2000 Lady Lobos Rush Premier from 2015-18, the team was the 2017 Division I state champions, the 2015 Division I state runner-up and advanced to the 2017 Region 3 quarterfinals. In 2017, the Lobos were the Disney Tournament champions. Adryan was also selected to the ODP Region III Pool in 2016.
 
 
Adryan was born May 24, 2000 in Germantown, Tenn., and plans to major in Nursing. She is the daughter of Kim Kelley and Cliff Darnell. She has a sister Ally who is currently enrolled at the University of Alabama.
 
Samantha Shaw
Columbia, S.C. | Drehen High School | South Carolina United Soccer Club
 
"Samantha is another proven winner as she has also won multiple state titles. She is a center mid with a huge amount of ability. She has the versatility to play deep or further forward underneath the striker. With her athleticism and quality on the ball, we expect Samantha to compete straight away. Along with her twin sister, Maggie, she is one of our first two signees from South Carolina. We are ecstatic to have her join us."

Samantha is a two-time All-State player from Drehen High School in Columbia, S.C. She helped the Blue Devils to the 2015 State Championship and the 2015 and 2016 Region AAA titles. She was a three-time All-Region selection, named to the Michael Nash Tournament Team and the ODP Region Pool.
 
Her club team, South Carolina United, was three-time South Carolina state champions and the 2016 SRPL Champions. They were a Region 2 finalist in 2016 and three time winners of the Jefferson Cup Championship. South Carolina United also claimed the 2015 Disney Showcase title.
 
Samantha is a member of the Principal's Honor Roll at Drehen High School. She is a member of the Honor Society, Key Club, Yearbook Club and the LPT.
 
She was born March 16, 2000 in Columbia, S.C., and plans to major in nursing. She is the daughter of Patricia Little (Rick Mendoza) and David Shaw (Darcy Hall) and has a twin sister Maggie and two older sisters Jamie and Danielle. Maggie will join her on the Mocs' soccer team. Her sisters Jamie and Danielle played soccer at Lander University. Her mother Trish was a member of the University of South Carolina volleyball team. Her father was a member of the 1982 Kitchener Rangers of the OHL who won the Memorial Cup. He played in the NHL for the several teams from from 1982-98 and finished his career in the IHL.
 
Maggie Shaw

"Maggie is one of the best left backs in the region in our opinion. She is very athletic, strong in the air, excellent 1v1, and she joins the attack well. Maggie has won several state titles in South Carolina and brings the winning mentality that we want to Chattanooga. We are delighted she will be joining us next fall."

Maggie was a three-time all-state and all-region selection for the Blue Devils. She helped them to the 2015 AAA State Championship and the 2015 and 2016 Region AAA titles. Her team was twice awarded the NSCAA High School Team Academic Award for a team GPA of 4.63.
 
Her club team, South Carolina United, was three-time South Carolina state champions and the 2016 SRPL Champions. They were a Region 2 finalist in 2016 and three time winners of the Jefferson Cup Championship. South Carolina United also claimed the 2015 Disney Showcase title.
 
She was a member of the South Carolina United 99 Girls Elite from 2012-2018, the South Carolina ODP Team from 2015-16 and the 2017-18 Elite Clubs National League.
 
Maggie was a member of the 2017 Drehen High School cross country team.
 
Maggie is an AP an Honors Student and a member of the Principal's Honor Roll. She was a member of the National Honor Society from 2016-18 and the Key Club from 2017-18.

Shelby Hash

"Shelby has won everything as a club player including a National Championship last summer. She is a gritty fullback with great ability on the ball. Shelby will fit in very nicely with how we play. Her toughness and ability to defend 1v1 has been proven consistently against some of the top wingers in the region. She loves a challenge and rises to the occasion when her team needs her. We are excited for Shelby to join us."

Shelby was a two-time captain for the Cougars and was named to the 2016 Williamson County All-District team. She was the two-time CHS Varsity Girl's Underclassman of the Year and named the 2016 MVP for Centennial High School.
 
She was a three-year Tennessee Soccer Club 2000 Showcase team captain. In 2017, her team was the US Youth Soccer Association U18 National Champions. She helped her team to four USYS Association Tennessee State titles from 2013-16. TSC was the 2015 USYS Association U15 Region III Semifinalist and in 2016, they repeated the feat. In 2017 her team was the USYS Association U18 Region III Champions.
 
Shelby is a member of the National Honors Society and the CHS Student Council. She was elected as her class Treasurer in 2016-17 and was elected Student Body Vice President as a senior. 
 
She was born June 8, 2000 in Knoxville, Tenn., and is undecided in her major. She is the daughter of Bobby and Kaye Hash and one younger sister Lindy. Her father was a member of the University of Tennessee men's soccer team.
 
Ashton Shields
Arlington, Tenn. | Arlington High School | Lobos Rush Soccer Club
 
"Ashton has been one of the elite keepers in Tennessee throughout her youth career. She is a fantastic shot stopper and has great presence in the goal. Her explosiveness is rare and we expect her to compete straight away. Ashton's desire to work will have her fit in beautifully with the group. We are excited to be adding a keeper of Ashton's quality."

Ashton helped lead the Tigers to three Region and District Championship titles and one runner-up finish in her four years with Arlington High School. She is a three-time Golden Glove winner, three-time MVP and a two-time All-State selection. She is a two-time Best of Preps, a Player of the Year nominee for Best of Preps, and a member of Tennessee ODP.
 
She helped the Lobos to the State Runner-Up finish in 2016-17. She was a two-time MVP for her club team.
 
She is a member of the National Honors Society and has maintained a 4.5 GPA. She is a member of the Advanced Art Club, Arlington Chapter of the Association for the Preservation of Tennessee Antiquities (ATPA) and Fellowship of Christian Athletes.
 
Ashton was born December 1, 1999 in Memphis, Tenn., and plans to major in Kinesiology. She is the daughter of Tine Rhinehart (Walter Rhinehart) and John Shields (Jamie Shields). She has three younger siblings, Dalton Shields, Dawson Shaver and Tallen Shaver.
 
Peyton Moore
Collierville, Tenn. | Briarcrest Christian High School | Lobos Rush Soccer Club
 
"Peyton is the best center back in Tennessee for this class in our opinion. She is also athletic and versatile enough to play in other positions at a high level. Throughout her club and high school career, Peyton has shown that she is a winner. We are looking forward to adding Peyton's toughness and quality to the squad."

Peyton has started every game throughout her high school career. She was a member of the 2015 DII-AA state championship team and helped the Saints to the 2014 and 2017 state runner-up finish.
 
She was the 2016 All-Metro Best of Preps Finalist for Player of the Year, a two-time All-State, All-Region and All-Metro selection. She is also a member of the 2017 Rush National Team.
 
She played for the 2000 Lobos Rush Premier from 2007-2018. The team was the 2017 Division I state champions, the 2015 Division I state runner-up and advanced to the 2017 Region 3 quarterfinals. In 2017, the Lobos were the Disney Tournament champions.
 
She was a member of Top Soccer and Senior Buddies at Arlington High School.
 
Peyton was born May 25, 2000 in Memphis, Tenn., and plans to major in Child Development. She is the daughter of James and Michelle Moore. Her brother Caleb is enrolled at the University of Memphis.
