Postgame Quotes vs. Tennessee Tech

Chattanooga Football Postgame Quotes
Tennessee Tech at Chattanooga
Finley Stadium - Chattanooga, Tenn.

Tom Arth, Head Coach

Overall thoughts on 34-10 season-opening win over TTU.
"Well it was an interesting game. I thought it was a game that we came out and played well. We forced a turnover on defense and then unfortunately missed some opportunities on offense in the redzone. I was really happy in the way we continued to respond. There was a couple moments in that game, after that pick-six interception, you weren't quite sure where the team was going to go. We were able to come back after really putting ourselves in bad situations with bad penalties. We converted a third-and-long and that turned into a touchdown. I thought that was the story of the night for me, it was how we responded."

On the play of sophomore wide receiver Bryce Nunnelly.
"Bryce played very well. He has trained as hard as anyone in our program. He has practiced as well as anyone in our program. It's no surprise to anyone on our team that he went out there and played the way he did tonight. It means so much to him and it's what we see everyday in practice from him. I'm very proud of him and all of our guys and the way we handled this evening's events."

On 89-yard TD catch & run from Tiano to Nunnelly.
"We just didn't finish drives early on in the game. That was a big play in the game, big time throw and big time catch. That really got us going. We were able to get a couple big plays in the passing game and the running game as well."

On the almost three hour weather delay.
"I had one other one in 2015, had lightning delays four or five times on-and-off, but never had to sit in the locker room for three hours before coming back out. I was really proud of how we came out, even after we let them drive inside our five yard line. For our defense to come up with a goal-line stand there at that point in the game, under the circumstances we were in, really tells you about the character and the resiliency of this team."

Nick Tiano, Jr.-QB
Overall thoughts on the offense.
"It was a great night for us. It was a good start, but we missed some opportunities early that we want to really capitalize on moving forward. We did a lot of good things tonight and we're ready to get this thing rolling."

On the play of the offensive line.
"No doubt. They worked all summer and in fall camp. They worked very hard and have done a really good job. They are really coming together and they're playing well right now and only going to get better."

On the play of junior running back Tyrell Price.
"Tyrell [Price] is incredible. He is one of those guys that you can hand the ball to and even when there is nothing there, he is going to gain a few yards. He is huge for us."

On next week's matchup at The Citadel.
"We need to work on consistency and get in a rhythm. This is a great start for us and we just need to carry this momentum going forward. We just need to keep getting better each week and the rest will take care of itself."

Jerrell Lawson, So.-DB
On the play of the defense.
"Just to play beside guys like Isaiah Mack and Derek Mahaffey, it's a blessing. Any time the ball is snapped, we know they are going to get in the backfield and get in the quarterback's face. They maybe have a max of three seconds to get rid of the ball."

On the 26-yard pick-six in the third quarter.
"I saw a little play action and the ball went across the middle. I just read my keys like how I'm coached by Coach Feeny and Coach Wilson, it just happened to end up in my hands and I scored."

On preparing for The Citadel.
"We have a very big week ahead of us. We have to get in the film room a lot and watch a lot of their triple option. We have to get our eyes trained and look at the right keys. It'll be very exciting to get back to learning this week."

Bryce Nunnelly, So.-WR
Thoughts after contributing with seven catches for 161 yards and a TD.
"It feels good. Probably the best I have ever felt after a football game. I don't know how to describe it right now. Most importantly, we won. It was my first time as a starter and contributed, it feels good."

On 89-yard TD catch and run.
"Five yards past the sideline, I could see up on the video board that no one was really close. That was pretty cool to look up and see how far they were behind me. I really didn't have to do anything, the line held up, Nick made a great throw, so all I had to do was catch and run."

On the play of the offensive unit.
"I think this is exactly what we needed. Obviously, we struggled early on since it's our first game, you'll have that. Once we got into our groove, we were rolling a little bit and it felt good. That's what we've been working for since January so it really felt good."
