BLACKSBURG, Va. --- The Chattanooga softball team outhit Virginia Tech Friday evening at Tech Softball Park, but walked 15 in a 12-7 loss to the Hokies.

Emily Coltharp led off the game with the first of the Mocs' 12 hits, a single into shallow left field. Chattanooga's second hit was a high arcing home run from
Acelynn Sellers to center field, putting UTC up 3-0.

Virginia Tech added runs in the bottom of the first and second to make it a one-run game, 3-2, but UTC would get one back in the top of the fourth on a sac fly from
Addy Keylon. That would send home pinch runner
Reagan Duran to make it 4-2.

The bottom of the fourth saw the damage done. Seven Hokies reached base on balls and three more hit doubles to put seven runs on the board and take a 9-4 lead. Chattanooga head coach Frank brought in two pitchers before returning starter
Brooke Parrott to the mound.

In the top of the fifth, the Mocs cut into the lead with three runs to make it 9-7, but Virginia Tech answered back with three more runs.

Kailey Snell led off the fifth with a single through the left side and
Olivia Lipari walked to put runners on.
Kaili Phillips hard hit to the pitcher was enough to load the bases. Sellers tallied her fourth RBI of the game with a single through the left side, scoring Snell with no outs.

A new pitcher in the game for the Hokies gave up a two-run single up the middle to
Jayce Purdy, pulling the Mocs to within two runs. With one out, a wild pitch moved the runners up and with two outs, Keylon drew a walk to load the bases once again, but a strikeout ended the Chattanooga threat.

Virginia Tech spread the lead back to five runs, 12-7, on a bases-loaded, three-run double to left field.

UTC would only get one more baserunner through the last two innings.

Snell was 3-for-4 with two runs scored. Sellers went 2-for-4 with four RBI and the only home run of the game.
Jayce Purdy had two RBI on a single in the fifth.

Parrott (2-4) went six innings with three strikeouts and walked 11. The Hokies had six hits and eight runs, seven earned off the Mocs' senior.
Taylor Long and
Alyssa Lavdis came on in the fourth and faced a combined five batters.

The Mocs fall to 14-11 overall and the Hokies move to 23-6 on the year. The two teams will be back in action at Noon Saturday with a second game to follow.
