Quick Info -
The Mocs Block is a partnership with UTC Athletics, Finley Stadium, Southside Social and EPB that starts with the closing of Chestnut Street on game days. The Mocs Block is a tailgating area that is specifically reserved for the students of Chattanooga. Also, those in attendance in their Mocs gear can enjoy specials at the Southside Social. EPB is providing complimentary wireless access for the tailgate.
Getting to the Game -
CARTA is adding Finley Stadium to its bus route, so students can conveniently get from campus to the stadium for all of the pregame festivities. No more school busses doing the shuttling, these are the Mocs-branded CARTA busses running from Noon until 12:30 a.m., on game days. Students can catch the bus at any of the regular CARTA stops on campus. Drop off at Finley is the corner of Main and Chestnut Streets. Students ride for free with a valid Mocs Card.
Free Student Parking -
Students with a valid Mocs Card will be able to access free parking while it lasts. This parking is available inside the garage directly behind the Chattanoogan Hotel at 1248 Chestnut Street, which is less than a five-minute walk from the Mocs Block. The entrance to this garage is also located on Chestnut Street.
Location -
The Mocs Block is a new pregame tailgate party located on the east side of Finley Stadium (Chestnut Street/Scoreboard Side) that features a UTC student tailgate. Limited parking is available for those tailgating.
Entertainment -
After a great performance by Dylan Scott in the opening year of the Mocs Block, the Athletics Department has decided to increase the amount of concerts from one to five. Each home game the Mocs Block will showcase a DJ beginning 3 hours prior to kickoff, as well as a live pregame concert. The concert stage will be located towards the center of the Mocs Block, specifically behind the scoreboard of the stadium (the West side of Chestnut Street). Below is the list of artists to perform in this year's Mocs Block:

Feature Tailgates -
The Mocs Block has worked with multiple organizations this season to bring a feature tailgate to each home game. These tailgates will be hosted by students and/or student organizations from the University. These feature tailgates will have various interactive events. These events will vary from game to game, depending on who the feature tailgate is. Events that can be expected this season are include, but are not limited to; eating contests, inflatable jousting, and even the annual Kappa Delta Wing Cook-Off. Feature tailgates will be located in a close proximity to the concert stage. If you are interested in being a feature tailgate, please contact Sam Lancaster at
ghv249@mocs.utc.edu.
Obtaining a Tailgating Spot -
For the 2017 season, remaining tailgating space in the Mocs Block is on a first come, first serve basis. The Mocs Block is open to both student organizations and students without an affiliation to a student organization. "We want every student to have the chance to tailgate in the Mocs Block whether they are a campus organization, Greek organization, club/intramural sports team, or a group of friends who want to tailgate at our football game" states Geoff Wilcox, Associate Athletics Director for Marketing & Promotions.
